          To my Field Study Professor, Ms. Vicenta  Rabajante  who enthusiastically shares her knowledge, guidance and learning to us. Thanks for the typical advice you shared with us and for all the teaching views you had given.

  VIEWS OF TEACHING
We all know that teaching is a complex and many sided tasks and knowing that the teaching is one of the most important professions from the standpoint of human welfare.
The teachers acts as a mentor, tutor, a facilitator, a moderator, a guidance counsellor, a friend, an adviser, a curriculum maker, a consultant, a leader, a community worker, an evaluator and etc. They are the key factor in the teaching learning process; they are the sole transmitting agent of knowledge.
The teachers help the students to seek validate, assimilate and use knowledge as a basis for further learning, for forming and modifying goals and ideas and also for rational decision making.
Teaching is a form of pouring-in process of knowledge and it is an art of leading the children and youth to live normally upright, and successful, so that teaching is a two ways process wherein the teachers and the learners learn from each other.
Thats why the teachers should be able to know their duties and responsibilities and they must possess in both professional and not professional qualities and established a good working relationship to their students, to the parents, and to the community for a successful development of teaching-learning process.
 PURPOSE OF PORTFOLIO

As a man creates something, there’s always a corresponding purpose of that. We cannot do anything without any purpose.
In making this portfolio, the first purpose that comes into my mind is that, it serves as my compilation of my observations, analysis and reflection that I’ve gained during my observation.

In terms of this portfolio I can determine my strengths and weaknesses as a future teacher. I can also determine together with my instructor the abilities that I possess, and what are the things that I need to improve more.

This portfolio tells whether I have the ability to become a teacher in the future or not. Through this I will be able to improve my creativity, ability and skills in terms of designing and organizing of the contents. Though it is not easy prepare a portfolio and it requires much time and resources but still I want his portfolio to be finished in order to test my abilities.

In this, it will help me in assessing the performance of my pupils. It will help me in choosing the appropriate assessment methods to be used in assessing my pupils. It will also help me in constructing a fair and valid test to measure the mastery of the pupils.

And it serves to me as a concrete evidence that i undergone my Field Study1.

Office of the Principals

The office of the principal is well ventilated and it is organized. There is sofa for visitors for them to feel welcome, and the principal’s office is always open to the visitors.

It is big and composed of many books, which are well organized

The counselling room is located inside the principal office.

They have only 1 canteen, and the foods are well organized. They have a certain and complete utensils. The canteen is clean, and it

Comfort Room for Boys and Girls

The school has 4 available comfort rooms for the boys and girls, but inside of the classrooms they have also their own comfort rooms especially the pre-schoolers and grade 1-3.

District office
ü     


The office is always open for some important guests, and sometimes the persons that have something important to talk about. It is clean and well ventilated. We can see the district profile, the target and the annual enrolment.

Stage
ü  


The stage is not so big but it is appropriate to the elementary students. It is located at the center of the school near the principal’s office at the left, and grade 2 rooms at the right. The stage is in front of the playground and the small statue of Mary.

Playground
ü  


The playground is big and it has an extension, which makes the ground big. Their playground is clean and it has a Carabao grass for the pupil’s safety.



An observation for the classroom visit

           Oas North Central School is located at Ilaor Norte, Oas, Albay, beside you take the Maharlika Highway and pass the Maharlika Bridge, going to legaspi.
           The school campus, (buildings, offices, and classrooms) are presentable and as I’ve entered the campus, I’ve noticed that the surroundings are clean. There’s a lot of flowering plants in front of every classrooms. There are also vegetable garden planted at the back of the canteen. In front of the campus are the flag pole, stage, play grounds, office of the principal and the reading center.
           The school buildings and classrooms are well-maintained and structured. The school is attractive, clean and well-organized. The school makes you feel that you are always welcome, and it is a good indicator that the teaching and non-teaching personnel bind as one or they have unity.

Description
Wall Displays

There are 8 quotations posted on the walls of the classroom that I’ve observed. 2 prayers(the opening  and the closing prayer),3 poster of flowers, all of these can be found on top of the blackboard/wallings left and right of the center on the top of the blackboard. They have the alphabets, honors, class officers, daily sweepers, school vision and mission, intervida corner and the subject’s corner.

Teachers Table

The teachers table of the room that I’ve observe, is near the door. Made up of wood but properly covered by gift paper and plastic. It has also a design and a flower on the table.

Learners Desk
There are 3 tables in the room, for the row 1, 2, and 3. It is made up of wood and the chairs also. There are 24 chairs for each pupil and there still an excess one table located near the teachers table. It is used when there is an exam; for the learner’s o have some privacy.
Blackboard
It is located in front of the room. There are 2 green blackboards with 3 lines and 2 colours, which is the red and the blue that guides the pupils when they are writing. The 2 blackboards have their own curtains for some surprise activities.
Learning Materials/ Visual Aids
Learning materials like flashcards with different words and those visual aids for the different subjects are located at the side of the room, near at the comfort room. They have also bookshelves at the side of the room but it was covered by a curtain and the visitor wasn’t able to recognize what is inside.
Comfort Rooms

It is located at the left corner of the room near in the learning materials. The comfort room is clean and it has continuously flowing water. It is important for the learners to feel comfortable.




OBSERVATION

           The school and classroom that I have observed was conducive to learning and facilitating learning for the pupils. They have the most important facilities and equipments needed in a teaching learning process.
           The availability of the instructional materials and organization of facilities and equipments help the teachers in their tasks of sharing knowledge to their learners and build an active and cheerful discussion inside the four corners of the classroom.
           As a future teacher someday, I need to be more patient and understanding, for my pupils to learn and for them to get my objective



 My Analysis


           Having a clean, attractive and safe school environment such as campus and classrooms, encourage the pupils going to school because they become interested to learn and discover what they would be if they enter this kind of environment. They become more inspired when they see a school that is conducive in learning, and makes them feel secured and special.

           This condition and location of the school and its classrooms play a big role in facilitating learning. The learning capabilities of the pupils is being affected because of the environment, that’s why school and its facilities should be conducive to learning for them to acquire knowledge in productive and comfortable ways. More facilities, more knowledge can the learners adopt.


My Reflection


          If someday I asked myself, if I like to teach in Oas North Central School, of course I will just simply say YES. Because teaching is a big responsibility for me to test myself on how I’ll make my learners to be responsible also. I want to teach in the school environment that I’ve observed because it is a clean and quite big for the learners to learn. Even the school is not totally big, for me it is quite enough for my learners to learn all I need to do is to guide and teach them well.
                A kind of school campus that is conducive to learning is a school that is well- organized, well disciplined, clean, has a complete facilities that can help the students to develop their learning’s, and when it comes to activities, a school that has a good way of running the school. In a classroom environment, the room that is conducive to learning is the room that has complete visual materials, charts, attractive wall display for the learners to motivate and feel inspired to learn, and to be more interested and participate to the lesson.


                The room that is conducive to learning has a complete visual materials, charts, some flash cards, and the room must also have an attractive wall displays such as- alphabets, inspirational quotes, heroes, posters, prayers, drawings, and they need also to have their board for the subject such as Makabayan corner, Values corner, Math, Filipino, and many more subjects. The room also need to have the learner’s outputs or works/artworks. All this things are important to do and applied to the classroom for the learners to feel special, for the learners to motivate and feel inspired to learn, and to be more interested and participate to the lesson.

                I will ensure that my classroom will be conducive to learning. I will construct an attractive, colourful, clean and well- organized classroom. I don’t mind if I’ll spent my own money just to make my classroom conducive to learning, because Its just for my learners own sake, in order for them to encourage and be interested to learn and gain knowledge from me and for them to feel inspired to come to school every day because in the other set of mind they are safe and comfortable here.

                Learning is the most important thing to practice, for us to live in this world. That’s why; we need to make our school and classrooms conducive to learning for our learners’ future. Be the teacher and guide the students properly.



My Portfolio

       An effective school environment of mine is the school that has 2 big gates with 2 guards. 5 rooms every level from pre-school to grade 6. Has a big stage, 2 green big play ground for the learners to enjoy their childhood even they are pressured in the school. The school has a complete facilities- principal’s office, reading center, library, canteen, audio center, gymnasium for their physical education, CR for boys and girls, clinic, conference hall, school garden, science laboratory, HE room, workshop area, and lastly the bodega.

       A room that has complete materials in teaching will be an effective one for the learners to learn. I’ll put some wall posters for my students to be inspired every day. An effective school environment is the school that has a good way of interacting, socializing to others.
       An effective school environment can make an effective student for an effective life towards the effective community.
